Summary

Ghana is a West African nation known for its democratic stability, rich natural resources, and relatively strong economic performance compared to many of its regional counterparts. It is one of the world's leading producers of cocoa and gold, and in recent years, it has expanded its oil production, contributing to economic growth. The country’s population of around 32 million people is diverse, with over 100 different ethnic groups, although the Ashanti, Fante, and Mole-Dagbani are the most prominent. Ghana has made significant strides in improving human development indicators and has positioned itself as a stable democracy, with peaceful transitions of power since the return to multi-party politics in 1992. However, the country faces significant challenges, including rising public debt, inflation, and a reliance on external financial assistance, such as loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Additionally, social issues, such as youth unemployment and rural poverty, persist despite Ghana’s overall economic growth.
